Phase 2 - Week 7
Weekly Reflection - 7
From Challenges to Confidence: My Weekly Teaching Journey
This week was a mix of challenges, learning experiences, and personal growth. Each day brought something different, helping me understand myself better as a teacher and strengthening my confidence in handling responsibilities.
Monday was the most eventful day of the week. Seenath TR teacher assigned me to take care of both CA2 and CB2 classes as she was on leave. Managing two classes on the same day was not easy. It required constant attention, patience, and effective classroom control. Initially, I felt nervous and overwhelmed, but as the day progressed, I started enjoying the responsibility. Handling both classes made me feel more confident and independent as a teacher.
However, the day was not without its difficulties. Due to some inconvenience during the class, an unexpected incident occurred where a student shouted at me. That moment completely caught me off guard. I was speechless and felt deeply hurt and sad. My silence reflected my emotions, and the students immediately noticed the change in my behavior. The classroom suddenly became very quiet. That incident affected me emotionally, but it also taught me an important lesson about handling unexpected situations with calmness and maturity.
After the class, the student approached me and sincerely apologized. That gesture meant a lot to me. It showed that students do understand their mistakes and respect their teachers. The apology helped me feel relieved, and the rest of the day went well. By the end of Monday, despite the challenges, I felt stronger and more confident than before.
Tuesday brought a new responsibility. Priya teacher asked me to conduct the practical exam for the CB2 class. I felt a little anxious initially, as conducting an exam requires accuracy, discipline, and fairness. However, I managed the exam smoothly by following the instructions carefully and maintaining proper control in the lab. This experience helped me gain confidence in handling examination duties and taught me the importance of being organized and alert.
Wednesday was a regular working day with scheduled classes. There were no major challenges, but the day gave me time to reflect on my previous experiences. Regular classes helped me maintain consistency in teaching and student interaction. It was a calm and balanced day.
Thursday was also a normal day. The classes went smoothly, and the students were cooperative. Days like this remind me that not every day is challenging, and such peaceful days are equally important in the teaching profession. It allowed me to focus more on teaching methods and classroom interaction.
Friday marked the end of the week and was another regular day. Though there were no special events, I felt a sense of satisfaction looking back at the week. From managing multiple classes to handling emotional moments and conducting exams, this week contributed significantly to my personal and professional growth.
Overall, this week taught me valuable lessons about patience, confidence, emotional control, and responsibility. Every experience, whether challenging or simple, helped shape me into a better and more confident teacher. I look forward to applying these lessons in the coming weeks.
