Enhancing Teaching with Technology

This week also went quite well. The teachers in the staffroom were more supportive and friendly. They gave me more information about the nature of classroom teaching and the school atmosphere. Jonny sir shared more informative knowledge about the subject, and Jasmin teacher gave me instructions on how to use the smart board. 

                The use of smart boards made the teaching-learning environment more effective and facilitated better understanding for the students. An interactive session can be created using smart boards. The classroom facilities helped the children learn more, and this method helped teachers take classes more effectively. 

                   Smart boards were introduced in Model School, Thycaud, as part of the Model School 21st Century project, launched by alumni and school officials in 2016, according to The Times of India. The project aimed to elevate the school to international standards and included the inauguration of fifteen smart classrooms. 
                  The newly inaugurated classrooms were opened for students in June 2016. Additionally, the Government Model Lower Primary School in Thycaud has also converted four classrooms into smart classrooms using teachers' contributions, with some walls painted to resemble themes from Class I and II textbooks.

Phase 2 - Week 1

Weekly Reflection - 1 Back to Where It All Began November 3, 2025 marked the beginning of the second phase of my teaching practice at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Cotton Hill, Vazhutacaud, Thiruvananthapuram. Cotton Hill School was established in 1859 as a free girls' school in Thiruvananthapuram under Maharaja Sri Uthram Thirunal. It was later split into three schools in 1935 by C. P. Ramaswami Iyer, with one located at Cotton Hill, which was upgraded to a high school in 1935 and has since evolved into the Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill.
