Phase 2 - Week 8

Weekly Reflection - 8

Saying Goodbye to a Place Called Home

The final week of my teaching practice marked the end of a journey that I will always hold close to my heart. This week consisted of two significant days—Monday and Tuesday, the 27th and 28th of January—and though short in duration, it was filled with emotions, learning, gratitude, and unforgettable memories.

Both Monday and Tuesday were scheduled as Bussy days, and during this time, the practical laboratory examinations were conducted. The atmosphere in the school was serious yet purposeful, as students prepared to demonstrate their practical knowledge. An external evaluator from Poojapura School visited the institution to assess the lab exams. The presence of an external evaluator always adds a sense of formality and importance to the process, and it was a valuable experience for me to observe the examination procedures closely.

The external evaluator, sir, was extremely cooperative and approachable. His calm demeanor and supportive attitude created a comfortable environment for both students and teachers. What touched me the most was the advice he shared with me regarding my future as a teacher. His words were encouraging and practical, reminding me of the responsibilities and dedication required in the teaching profession. Those few moments of guidance felt meaningful and motivating, strengthening my confidence and commitment to this noble profession.

The last day of my teaching practice was the most emotional part of the entire journey. As I went around the staff room, I said goodbye to all the teachers. Each farewell carried a mixture of gratitude, respect, and sadness. The teachers not only wished me luck for my future but also surprised me with gifts, which deeply moved me. Their kind gestures and warm wishes made the moment even more emotional. It truly felt like leaving a family rather than just a workplace.

Cotton Hill has always been special to me, but during this teaching practice, it felt like a home. Teaching in the same institution where I once studied, alongside my own teachers, was an experience beyond words. I felt immense pride in standing in front of the class where I once sat as a student. At the same time, the thought of leaving that familiar space filled my heart with sadness. The corridors, classrooms, and staff room echoed with memories from both my student life and teaching journey.

The students also shared their feedback with me, which was both touching and encouraging. Their words made me realize the impact a teacher can have, even in a short period. As I walked out of the school on my final day, my heart was heavy, yet full. This teaching practice did not just train me to be a teacher—it shaped me emotionally, professionally, and personally. Though the journey has ended, the memories and lessons will stay with me forever.
