Phase 2 - Week 3

Weekly reflection -3

Growing with Every Step

The third week of my teaching practice at Cotton Hill has been an incredibly rewarding and inspiring journey. Every day feels more exciting than the last, and I can sense myself getting closer to the dream I once held deep in my heart—the dream of becoming a teacher who can truly make a difference. With each passing moment, my interest in the teaching profession is growing, shaping me into someone more confident, compassionate, and committed.

This week, I found myself becoming more attached to the students. The bond we share has grown stronger, and I am beginning to understand them not just as learners, but as individuals with unique personalities, emotions, and stories. Knowing them from the inside has helped me connect better and teach more effectively. Their smiles, their curious questions, and even their playful energy make my day brighter and motivate me to put in my best effort.

Monday was an important day, as I had my class observation. Our new optional teacher, Suja teacher, came to observe my session. Although I felt a little nervous initially, her calm presence eased my worries. After the class, she gave me thoughtful feedback and practical advice on improving my teaching techniques. Her guidance encouraged me to refine my approach and helped me gain more confidence in handling the classroom.

Throughout the week, I received classes every day, which allowed me to gain consistency and rhythm in teaching. Each class helped me learn something new—about lesson planning, classroom management, and keeping students engaged. These everyday experiences are slowly shaping me into a more confident teacher.

Thursday, 20th November 2025, was a special and memorable day—World Children’s Day. The celebration at school was organised beautifully by Latha teacher, the coordinator of the Souhrida Club. As part of the Souhrida Day observance, a skit was organised by the students. Their performance was thoughtful, energetic, and carried meaningful messages about friendship, empathy, and life skills. It was truly heartwarming to see students express themselves so confidently on stage.

During the programme, Latha teacher also spoke about the ten essential life skills that every child needs—skills that help them grow emotionally, socially, and mentally. Her words were inspiring and reminded all of us about the deeper purpose of education. It emphasized that teaching is not only about academic knowledge, but also about nurturing the values and abilities children require to face life’s challenges.

Looking back, the third week has been a beautiful blend of learning, bonding, and self-growth. The excitement I feel is growing each day, and I am grateful for every moment spent at Cotton Hill. My experiences here are shaping me into the teacher I aspire to become, helping me walk closer to the dream I once imagined. I am eager to step into the upcoming weeks with the same enthusiasm and dedication.
