Phase 2- Week 2
Weekly Reflection -2
Highlights of My Second Week
The second week of my teaching practice went smoothly and gave me many memorable experiences. I had classes every day, which helped me stay actively connected with the students and understand their learning pace better. With each passing day, I felt more comfortable in the classroom and more confident in my role as a teacher trainee.
One of the best parts of this week was the cooperation I received from the students. They were attentive, disciplined, and genuinely interested in learning. Their positive attitude made the teaching–learning process enjoyable for me. As I spent more time with them, I got to know their personalities, strengths, and learning styles in a much deeper way. Some were naturally expressive, while others needed gentle encouragement, but overall, the entire class showed enthusiasm and respect. This helped me build a good rapport with them.
This week, I started a new chapter in Business Studies: “Social Responsibilities of Business and Business Ethics.” Introducing this chapter felt exciting because it is a topic that connects classroom learning to real-life situations. The chapter progressed very smoothly from the start. Students responded well to the lessons, especially because the concepts were closely related to the moral and ethical duties that businesses are expected to follow beyond legal requirements.
I explained that while businesses must follow laws, they should also behave in a morally responsible manner by protecting the environment, ensuring fair treatment of workers, being honest in advertisements, and contributing to society. These ideas captured the students’ interest because they could relate them to companies they see around them. Their curiosity encouraged thoughtful classroom discussions, and many students shared examples of businesses they believed were socially responsible or ethical.
The activities conducted during the week also involved all students. I designed tasks that encouraged participation, such as identifying ethical and unethical business practices, group discussions, and small presentations on socially responsible companies. These activities helped students think critically and apply what they learned in a practical way. Their active involvement made the lessons lively and meaningful.
A special highlight of the week was Friday, November 14th—Children’s Day. On this day, there was a special program held at Kanakakunnu, in which high school students from the school participated. The atmosphere in the school was festive, and students were excited about the celebration. Although it was a busy day, the joy and energy of Children’s Day added a refreshing spirit to the week. Seeing the students participate in programs outside the classroom reminded me that school life is not just about academics but also about celebrating talents, culture, and childhood.
Overall, the second week of my teaching practice was productive, smooth, and enjoyable. The new chapter progressed well, the students showed remarkable enthusiasm, and the Children’s Day celebration added a cheerful memory. This week strengthened my confidence and made me look forward to the weeks ahead with even greater motivation.
