Teaching practice - Week 8
Weekly Reflection - 8
A Week of Learning, Celebration, and Responsibility
September 8th 2025 marked a new beginning as school reopened after the Onam holidays. The break was refreshing, but I was genuinely excited to return, the thought of seeing my students again and stepping into the classroom gave me a sense of joy and purpose.
As I entered the class, there was a warm buzz of chatter and energy. Everyone was sharing their Onam experiences from family gatherings and floral carpets to the delicious Onam Sadhya. It felt wonderful to listen and be part of those festive memories.
Once the greetings and stories settled, I moved on to teaching. Jasmin teacher had given me the topic "Business Services" to begin with. It was a smooth and engaging session. I introduced the concept and could see the curiosity light up in the students' eyes. Starting a new chapter with such enthusiasm both theirs and mine made me feel content.
There was a class based on the importantance of Mental Health Awareness focused on adolescence. The session helped to understand the challenges young people face during this critical phase of life and the importance of taking care of mental well-being. It was very informative and made us more aware of the issues related to mental health.
On Tuesday, we had a holiday due to the Onam celebration (Onagosham). During the celebrations, there was a special flot organized by Model Boys Higher Secondary School. It was colorful and lively, filled with cultural performances that showcased the spirit of Onam. Everyone seemed very happy and excited to be part of the event.
Wednesday and Thursday were regular class days. We continued with our studies and regular school activities without anything special happening on these days.
On Friday, the school organized a grand Arts Festival, and we were assigned various duties. There were four stages in total, and I was given the responsibility to manage the second stage.
Several interesting events took place there, such as Monoact, Mimicry, Nadan Pattu, Group Song, Malayalam Recitation, and English Recitation. My task was to register the students’ names for the events, assign them code numbers, collect the mark sheets from the judges, mark their grades, and prepare certificates. It was really exciting to be part of the organization and management of the festival, and I learned how much effort goes into running such events smoothly.
Overall, it was a productive and enjoyable week, combining learning, cultural celebrations, and event management.
