Teaching practice - Week 3
Weekly Reflection-3
Lessons from the Classroom
These were my lessons for the week.
During the first week, I felt nervous and somewhat intimidated. However, as time passed, I came to believe that experience is a key factor in achieving one's goals. I genuinely started enjoying my days, and my focus shifted towards contemplating the concepts and devising effective class management strategies. The students' enthusiasm and active participation in class not only brought me joy but also motivated me to explore innovative teaching methods and further develop my knowledge. Initially, I had doubts about my abilities, but now I'm striving to do my best to ensure that students grasp the concepts thoroughly.
The teachers were incredibly supportive, providing me with additional information that expanded my knowledge and skills. They offered valuable guidance on class management and introduced me to the effective use of smart boards, including strategic breaks between concepts to enhance student engagement. Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding that teaching encompasses not only imparting conceptual knowledge but also instilling values and life lessons in students.
I realized that a child's character development is significantly influenced by their surroundings, and since students spend a considerable amount of time in school interacting with teachers, it is essential for educators to play a proactive role in shaping their students' character and guiding them towards positive growth.
I also learned that being overly strict can merely frighten students, rather than inspire positive change. If educators aim to make a lasting impact, they should focus on influencing their students in a constructive manner. A teacher's influence can be profound, shaping students' perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors in meaningful ways."
